I believe that what is right is totally relative to perspective. The human mind can, will and does justify anything that it wants! There is no absolute right or wrong, a real scary thought for those who have a need to believe in absolutes.
The beautiful part of this way of thinking is (more…)

A big part of NOT achieving success is due to people not willing to sacrifice. I’ve yet to meet or study a mega successful person who hasn’t had to make daily sacrifices in order to make it happen.
I personally find it really offensive when people are quick to tell me what they want, but then aren’t willing to sacrifice in order to make it happen because it conflicts with their social life…uhgg I mean seriously!!!
Regardless of how big or small the goal, in order to increase the probability of success, the universe requires a 100% focus and dedication to it.
And not trying to sound too harsh, but understand that 100% focus and dedication WILL NOT and CANNOT be achieved by the weak minded.
Even if by some fluke of nature a weak minded person hits it big, the chances of them being able to sustain the moment is about as likely as Disney going into the cartoon porn business. Yeah it could happen, but what are the chances?
Trust me when I tell you that the universe has a funny way of tempting you with conflicting wants in every stage of your journey and no matter how you look at it, in order to come up, there’s going to be something that you’ll have to be willing to give up!

If you haven’t heard of the current green movement, then you must be from a galaxy far far away.
With countless politicians including it in their campaign platforms, numerous corporations making it an essential part of their marketing agendas, and various grass roots organizations constantly spouting about it, not being aware of it would be like not noticing the sun at high noon on a clear day while relaxing on the beach.
With all the information on the subject being abundantly available, I find it very interesting that when asking people what they know about it, most often they respond with general answers like…it’s about saving the earth from global warming, it’s about saving the whales, it means shopping at Whole Foods.
I’ve even had some people tell me that they don’t believe in going green at all because it’s just another marketing ploy attempting to guilt consumers into buying the new packaged version of an old product.
Though all those things might have some variables of truth to them, one cannot deny that thinking green will in the long term save you some long green money that is the thing that makes the world go around. (more…)

First let me say that I’m honored to have been thought of in this capacity by my good friend Mr. West. It is an affirmation that my efforts of becoming one the top thinkers of this generation is slowly but surely becoming an actuality.
With that said, I think philosophers can offer the American Society, as well as any society, a sense of direction of what it is to have a fulfilled self-defined existence.
Now this won’t be an easy task and is definitely an uphill battle being that what’s considered to be “right” or “ideal” is forever changing in order to protect the economic interest of those in power.
History has shown time and time again that the moral and social orders of societies are tied to an economic system that must keep the majority of its population in a state of delusion and despair…especially the false illusion of love of country and religion, which are tools used to mask true intentions.
Philosophers at any given time must be daring enough to broaden the consciousness of the masses regardless of the consequences to one self, because like fellow thinker David Humes so elegantly put it, “Nothing appears more surprising to those who consider human affairs with a philosophical eye, than the easiness with which the many are governed by the few.”

“Who is wise? He that learns from everyone. Who is powerful? He that governs his passions. Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody.”

Dear Mr. Mathews,
First I would like to commend you for the passion you express in your beliefs, but unfortunately that’s where the compliments must end. It seems that you have become so engulfed in “your world” that you have greatly compromised your perspective of “the world”.
You see sir, in “your world” it would make perfect sense that everyone would bow to your demands and have no freedom of self-expression. Everyone would fear the consequences of going against the dress standards that you and your court have deemed inappropriate. The flaw in your perspective is that it doesn’t seem to be strong enough to accept when someone else happens to be strong enough to consciously decides NOT to partake in “your world”.
Perhaps you didn’t get the e-mail, text message or even the tweet that there are a lot of rational independent thinkers that just happen to reside outside of your world… (more…)

I can remember first coming across TED last summer and immediately saying to myself that I wanted, no, I must present my ideas on that stage. TED’s mission of “ideas worth spreading” embodies everything that I stand for.
Of course no one can ever plan out every step of their journey, so it never dawned on me that what hopefully is the first of my many TED experiences would be in Istanbul, Turkey.
I can still remember vividly standing in the lobby of Armand’s building when he told me the news. It was kind of surreal because I never told him how much I really wanted to do a TED event. The only indication of interest was me posting a couple of TED Talks videos last year.
The overall experience was truly a “Thank You And You’re Welcome” moment for me. From me learning (more…)

This is the time of year when many of us take time to reflect and relive the year’s ups and downs. We miss our love ones who are no longer here, reminisce over our lovers from past and smile about our new ones. Although there were some decisions that we surely regret, there were also some that made us feel as smart as Einstein.
We had moments of historic proportions as well as “more of the same”. Unfortunately there were many people that lost while a few gained when it comes to finances. I project 2010 will produce an unprecedented amount of entrepreneurs…not out of choice, but necessity.
It will pay to think outside the box when it comes to making money.
Especially when you find out there’s actually a niche for your crazy idea. Here are a few of the craziest ways people are making money in this economy. (more…)

Yesterday I worked for about 12 hours creating cover concepts for my new book, “A Book of Questions with One Answer”. I didn’t realize how much time had passed until the 8th draft. The thing that I like most about being creative is the magic of connecting with my soul until something is revealed. I really can’t explain it, but I always know it once I see it.
The fire was really ignited after showing the first couple of drafts to Armand and Kanye due to neither of them having a problem with telling me just how wack they were! It is a good thing that I know the importance of keeping an open mind to constructive criticism…especially when the other person is right!
Although it’s not quite ready yet, I’m getting quite anxious to share it with the world!!!

A couple of weeks ago during the We Think Radio show, I stated that I’ve never had an argument with anyone who was smarter than me. Â What seemed to be something just said in passing has actually made a profound impact in my way of being…for I have not argued with anyone since!
I know now for sure that there is no reason to argue with anyone based on this new way of thinking.  Allow me to further explain… (more…)

What you think means more than anything else in your life.
More than what you earn, more than where you live, more than anything that you might have or lost, and certainly more than what anyone else may think of you…simply because what you think will determine them all.

A successful life is one that’s lived through the understanding & pursuing of one’s own path, not chasing after the dreams of others.
Posted in The Thinker's Thoughts | No Comments »
This is what happens when creativity refuses to be limited by the definition of others. Â I can understand why most mediocre mindsets would think that I’m bias when it comes to Kanye due to our friendship. That might be partial true being that I’ve known him for close to 25 years now…but anyone who thinks that’s where my thought process ends clearly doesn’t have any idea of the magnitude of my intellect. Rather in life or business, I find that there are two great offenses…one being to act suddenly without thought and the second is to not act at all…THINK ABOUT IT!!!

I woke up this morning thinking about my dreams and made the decision to do at least five things today towards making them come true. It seems that my focus is always heighten on holidays when most people aren’t working. I feel it gives me a mental advantage.
Since my first business venture in 1995, I’ve always looked at holiday as an interruption into my work week. One lesson that my journey has taught me for sure is that nothing will be handed to me.
It just really comes down to who wants it the most AND is willing to out work everyone else in order to get it. Trust me when in tell you my fellow thinkers, there are no days off when chasing YOUR DREAMS!
I’ve met plenty of extremely talented people in my day who unfortunately aren’t willing to put in the work to become successful in life…and I define “successful in life” as simply living out YOUR DREAMS!
I often wonder if having a successful life is meant for everyone or just a chosen few…what do you think?
NOTE: I purposely didn’t reveal what my five things are because the intent is for you to find your own things to do that will help you towards living out YOUR DREAMS!!!
