BBC Three has dropped a repeat episode of the US cartoon Family Guy because it had jokes about Michael Jackson in it (including a shot of Jackson in bed with Stewie the baby).
The Mock the Week comedian Frankie Boyle has quit his column at a Scottish tabloid newspaper because it refused to publish his jokes about Jackson.
And, as was reported on Friday, a scene with Jackson’s sister LaToya has been cut from Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno film (Bruno made fun of her brother’s voice).
But of course there will come a time, as happened with Princess Diana, when it’s deemed socially acceptable for comedians to make cracks about Jackson. All I’d like to know is: how is it decided when that will be? (more…)

“Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind’s greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn’t have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking.”

Ambitiously Pursuing Your Own Self-Direction
by fellow thinker Jim Rohn
What is the origin of true ambition? There exists really only one place to find true ambition and that is within you – in every thought, in every movement, in every motivation. Your ambition is an expression of who you truly are, your own self-expression.

You are constantly in my thoughts and I miss you terribly. Even as I type this, my heart smiles as I think of our conversations about what I should or shouldn’t being doing…and how you would always get on me for saying “but” after all of your points. ”Buutttt” you know that I have to question everything before I accept it…LOL!!!
Just know that I’ll be forever thankful that your words will not allow me to be an average man!!!

The right hand of a man that was transplanted onto his left arm, after he lost both hands in a subway accident. His right arm was so badly damaged that it couldn’t be used, so doctors placed his right hand on his left forearm. They then removed his thumb and repositioned it on the other side of his hand, so that his old index finger is now his little finger.  This was the fifth inverted hand transplant ever done.

As I mentioned in the previous post, my mom introduced me to Kahlil Gibran very early in my life. As far back as I can remember, she always had his book, The Prophet, lying around the house and even named one of my brothers after him.
After I read his quote, it was a no brainer for me to post it. As I was going through my routine of selecting a picture, my thoughts were flooded with childhood memories of my mom trying her best to get me to read his book. I guess I was a non-reader back then as well because I never did…LOL!
Clearly it had an affect on me looking back on it now. I really had a good laugh when I realized that I wasn’t being as original as I thought when it came to my idea of how to look in pictures. I’m not sure what it means that his thoughts and image laid dormant in my sub-conscious for all these years, but I know it means something!!!
This is a great example of how much our past can have an impact on our present and why it’s so important that we always question why we do what we do. Fortunately in this case it was something positive and endearing, but it could’ve just as easily been something negative that was the foundation of my thoughts and behavior.
Hey mom, although I never read his book, I hope it brings a smile to your heart to know that I’m now actually living it!!!

NEWARK — Homeless and without a job, Toni Clark saved her unemployment checks only for the barest of essentials — meals, and her college education.
On Friday, Clark was one of almost 1,100 graduates at the largest commencement in Essex County College’s 40-year history. While many of her classmates faced down their own adversity, Clark’s entire college career was completed without having a place to sleep at night. (more…)

There’s a big difference in OUR world and THE world…do you know the difference???

Roughly four months ago, I was browsing through youtube and watched a video “The Think Movement has begun which really appealed to me.
I remember feeling so energised and inspired by the short video.  I was thinking “This guy who is speaking on the clip is exactly what I am about!
The guy’s name was Sakiya Sandifer and the name rang a bell although I could not remember where from. After replaying the video I realised that I had heard of the name Sakiya Sandifer because I had one of the books he co-wrote with Kanye West entitled “Thank You And You’re Welcome.” (more…)
