“The man who bases his actions on independent thought; who reflects and considers before doing anything, and whose judgments are arrived at through logic, is the man who will go farthest today.” - Thomas J. Watson
Behold the new surgical robot that will perform operations on prostate cancer patients at Bristol Urological Institute.  In the picture on the right, the robot peels a grape which is slightly smaller than a prostate gland. Welcome to the future!!!
It seems like it was just yesterday when I sent Kanye that quote. It’s quite ironic how that beautiful question came to me in a  down period of my life.
I was  in the midst of a really tough decision… (more…)
The British Government is so concerned about the teenage pregnancy soar in the country that they’ve decided to change their politics and let abortion clinics advertise on TV and radio, as well as allow condom manufacturers to broadcast ads at any time of the day or night according to TheDailyMail.co.uk.
Decide what you want out of life. Then set your goals high. For the world will turn aside and let you pass if you know where you are going.
The greatest mistake you can make is to be afraid of making one. The earlier you make those mistakes the better. Don’t be afraid to try. The difference between greatness and mediocrity will be how often you try. No one has ever possessed enough power, prestige, or knowledge to always win. It’s fundemental to life that you’ll win some and you’ll lose some.
Turn your possibilities into reality by simply taking action.

A LISTERN’S FEEDBACK FROM SHOW #3 Let me preface the following critique by saying that you two sound great on air. It seemed like a relaxed conversation that keeps the listeners engaged.
When Sakiya explained that schools should be run like a business, it struck a nerve. Based on my research on this subject, I am fundamentally against any notion that a school or school system should be run like a business. No. Teachers as salespersons. No. Students as buyers. No. When students don’t perform (buy products), then it is the fault of the teacher (salesperson). No. This theory is flawed.
TONIGHT’S TOPICS: Join us as we discuss how the internet has either created or exposed a lot of critics in the world who unfortunately have a mindset of destruction.
I’ve often heard how a person’s sex drive is paralleled to their success in life. Although it might hold some truth, I’m not completely sold on that theory since I’ve come across plenty of horny losers in my life time. (more…)
I’m often in debates about who’s number one. Sad to say, they’re normally in very superficial topics such as sports, music or movies. So I would like to up the ante with the following questions…
1. What person do you think has contributed the most to the betterment of society throughout history?
2. What person do you think has contributed the most to the betterment of your life?
3. What person do you think has benefited the most from your life?
Without question, television has had a great impact in society and almost everyone with the financial means to own one does. There seems to be something for everyone on television, whether you love the news, sports, drama, movies, or comedy. Some people, like myself, use it as a relaxation tool while other use it as a baby-sitter. Even if you are someone who preaches against it…it’s always on our minds. Way before Pharrell and crew became major on the scene, I would often define myself as a cool nerd. I can still remember the countless hours of delight spent making slightly pornographic images run down the TV screen created on my Commodore 64. I know that ’s really dating myself, but I willingly do so in an effort to prove my point.
Now I know some of you maybe thinking…uhmm, Sakiya…that makes you more a “nerdy pervert” than a “cool nerd” . Being that you might have a point, the following list outlines what I think best describes the quintessential cool nerd… (more…)
Bad ethics in A-Rod ’story’ This letter originally appeared in The Jersey Journal on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
I’ve been a journalist for more than 20 years as I approach my mid-40’s. And I am so weary of what “journalism” has become. There was a time when ethics was number 1 in the news arena. That was when there wasn’t conservative or liberal news channels and reporters, there was just news, straight down the middle news.
That was also a time when intelligence and education combined to determine who could claim the title of journalist because at least it guaranteed some sort of foundation of ethics, right to know and public good.
I think Sports Illustrated was wrong to air the A-Rod story because their motive was purely to be first, not right. Here’s why. (more…)
There is a teahouse located on the top of a mountain in China and to reach the actually location of the teahouse, one must first take a tram up to the start of the “trail”. And since there isn’t any proper path to the top, one must navigate along the side on a mountain with very little room for mistake. And even though there’s a high risk of falling to your demise, the teahouse maintains a steady stream of customers, all eager to enjoy their favorite cup of tea! This is a great story that I came across that should give you some insight on how to better sell yourself…
When there were old-school parking meters in New York, quarters were precious.
One day, I’m walking down the street and a guy comes up to me and says, “Do you have a dollar for four quarters?” He held out his hand with four quarters in it.
Curious, I engaged with him. I took out a dollar bill and took the four quarters.
Chicks are displayed outside a school in Changchun. Chickens are popular pets with Chinese children although their life expectancy rarely exceeds a few days, with only a few surviving to be eaten by the family or kept as a family pet.
Most of us do things in the name of tradition without any thought of how it applies or affects us personally. It should be clear by now that I see life through a philosophical lens, which drives me to find the “why” to an action. I think clearly understanding the “why” allows one to make a better decision.
Recently I came across a fascinating article about taboos. Although it has some right of the gate “uhh…yuk” factors, it does make you think about where you are morally. Me personally, I love it when my belief system is tested because when you really think about it…how good can a belief be that has never been tested?
With that said, take the taboo challenge if you dare… (more…)
First let me say that I definitely had a “WTF” moment when I saw this image of Obama depicted as a saint on these votive candles.  Seriously, what does this mean and how will this be explained 3 generations from now?  Pandora’s Box on “what’s a saint” has definitely been blown wide opened for me. I can’t help but to wonder how or if this applies to other symbolisms throughout history.
Check out the premier episode of  We Think Radio with myself and co-host Leandra Williams that aired live tonight. Hear the excitment as we delivered very powerful, thought provoking as well as entertaining commentary with one goal in mind…to spark those who are seeking to create a positive change in their life.
Topics included: Special Needs Children, valid reasons for having children, the selfishness/selflessness of creativity and of course “The Thinker’s Thoughts”.
Great video! I thought it was very insightful as well as entertaining…HOWEVER I do want you to keep in mind a quote by fellow thinker Buddah which says, “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”
And for the record, I think this is very disrepectful to monkeys…LOL!!!
Fellow thinker, Douglas Adams said, “A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.”
Wow! That quote really rings true to me! It reminds me of a recent conversation with a good friend about how it’s senseless to try to satisfy the fools of the world. Most fools tend to be never satisfied mainly because they don’t know any better. A fool by definition means deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding. I think attempting to satisfy a fool makes about as much sense as attempting to drain the ocean.
So the next time you get caught up trying to satisfy someone that you’ve defined as a fool, ask yourself, “uhmm…and the bigger fool is _________?”
