Moller International have predicted a flying car named The ‘Autovolantor’ could be reality within two years.  It is based on a Ferrari 599 GTB.

The car is expected to be able to do 100mph on the ground and 150mph in the air. The calculated airborne range is 75 miles and ground range is 150 miles.

Designer Bruce Calkins says the car features a specially designed hybrid fuel and electric system to power the thrusters, creating as much as 800 horse power.  He believes it will be able to fly at altitudes of up to 5,000ft.

Estimated cost of having this puppy parked on your rooftop is around $641K!!!

dare to compare

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com by j. sakiya sandifer

Life can/will put it’s pressure on you at any given moment.  Unfortunately, most people develop a negative thought association to pressure.  For me, pressure is a positive because it means it’s a moment of transformation.  Now stress I don’t like because stress causes things to break.

One key point to remember in your pressure moments is to be very mindful of what you’re comparing the moment to.   Although it can always be better…it can always also be worse!  That perspective is all up to you.

This is an article by a friend of The Think Movement published in The Jersey Journal

IN THEIR OPINION
Heard widely or not, it’s a word that dehumanizes
Friday, October 24, 2008
BY STAN EASON
SPECIAL TO THE JOURNAL

Did you ever have the taste for really good pizza, or something you just wanted?  Well, I did recently, and I stopped at Larry and Joe’s, a fine Italian Restaurant on Newark Avenue that has excellent pizza pie. But after 30 seconds of being in the popular spot, I forgot why I was there.

You see, at one of the tables a group of youths adorned with the uniform shirts of the nearby high school were conversing, very loudly.  Not unusual for their age, but in one sentence I heard the “N” word referenced at least four times and no, it was not used as a term of endearment. (more…)

is that your dress ringing?

Monday, October 27th, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com by j. saKiya sandifer

It could be, if you’re wearing an M-Dress — a silk garment that doubles as a mobile phone. Produced by UK firm CuteCircuit, the M-Dress works with a standard SIM card. When the dress rings, you raise your hand to your head to answer the call.

This futuristic fusion of fashion and technology is becoming more common as clothes designers are increasingly incorporating electronics into their garments.

So what do you think? Is this something to look forward too?

a new approach to relaxation

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com by j. saKiya sandifer

Psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman has designed and constructed a large-scale multi-media space that aims to calm even the most stressed out of minds. To help promote the University of Hertfordshire’s Health and Human Sciences Research Institute Showcase, Wiseman reviewed the scientific research into relaxation, and has created what is being billed as ‘The world’s most relaxing room.’ During the Showcase, which runs from 21-24 October at the University’s de Havilland campus, groups of up to ten visitors at a time will be invited to enter this large and unusual space, lie on soft matting and rest their head on lavender-scented pillows. In each fifteen minute session, people will be bathed in a calming glade-like green light, listen to a specially composed soothing soundtrack, and look at a completely clear artificial blue sky.

“The pace of modern-day life, credit crunch, and financial crisis is making many people feel very stressed and so we have created this space to help them relaxâ€, noted Professor Wiseman. (more…)

how to live to be 114 years old (in theory)

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com by j. saKiya sandifer

This is an article from independent.co.uk that I found to be very interesting and unfortunately quite long (you all know that I’m not much on reading…LOL).  With so many points presented, I decided to post the article in it’s entirety.

Doctors can now tell us which habits may extend our lives – and just how much extra time they give us.
By Roger Dobson

People who are happy, having an active sex life, and who avoid debts, outlive the miserable, abstainers and the poor, as do chocolate eaters, churchgoers and vegetarians.  New research shows exactly how many years longer people can live by adopting healthy behaviours – from stopping smoking and losing weight to eating less meat and being positive.

A Harvard University study that monitored 600 people for 60 years shows that seven lifestyle factors are key to determining how well we age – avoiding alcohol abuse, not smoking, having a stable marriage, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, developing good coping mechanisms and pursuing education.

“Successful ageing isn’t simply a matter of genes or fate. (more…)

this is not the time to stress…it’s the perfect time to invest!

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com by J. Sakiya Sandifer

First let me say that I think stress is a state of mind and not a state of being.  A great quote by Wayne Dyer says, “when you change the way you’re looking at something, what you’re looking at will change.”

Although the days of profitable short term investments are long gone , I think the economy is in the midst of announcing a sale on long term investments.  There are many long terms investment opportunities out there if you open your mind to them.

One example is to (more…)

the fairness of unfairness

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com

I know this might not be the politically correct thing to say, but…LIFE ISN’T FAIR AND IT’S BEST TO GET OVER IT!!!

It is impossible for all things to be equal.  I think it’s quite unfair for one to even think life is suppose to be equally fair.  In order to have winners, you must have losers.  You can’t have pretty unless there is ugly.  There can’t be a “Mr. All That” without a “Mr. All Wack”.

So I ask you (in all fairness), are the lazy equally as deserving as the ambitious?  Should the ignorant have the same as the intelligent?  Are the least selling entitled to be compensated the same as the top selling?

Be sure to keep this thought in mind, defining yourself allows you to determine what’s fair to you.

Marlboros were originally marketed to women.  Advertisements went as far as having babies ask their moms to have a cigarette instead of scolding them.  It plays up the “women-being-hysterical” stereotype and also showed the changing expectations about good motherhood.

In today’s world, we can hardly believe that this was a real advertisement…but yep, it was!  A point to consider is at one time this advertisement was not deemed offensive and was seen as normal.  Take that same mindset of current advertisements.  Are there any that you think will eventually look as crazy as the Marlboro does know?

Please note: Political advertisements should be included!!!

Tap’dNY is a New York City bottled water company with a local twist and knack for honesty. They don’t travel the world from Fiji to France seeking water or offer the usual bottled water gimmicks. They work with NYC’s public water system to source the world’s best tasting tap water, purify it through reverse osmosis and bottle it locally, leaving out ludicrous transportation miles.

They claim that this is a honest and local alternative to thirsty New Yorkers, giving them a smarter choice: to drink their own (award winning) water.

So I strongly suggest that you really pay attention to your surroundings for the countless opportunities to explore.  And if you don’t see any…MOVE!

a very “corny” political statement

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

TheThinkMovement.com

Every year, Lebanon, Ohio farmer Bill Irons creates a design in his corn field.  This year, it’s a 12-acre maze with an election theme.

Irons creates his design the old-fashioned way.  He draws it out on graph paper, then enlarges it on 16 to 20 pages of graph paper that he tapes together and mounts on a board.

The corn field gets special attention, too.  It’s planted in two directions – like the intersections on a grid, he said.  The corn comes up extra thick that way.

When the corn starts growing, Irons gets out his tractor, and sometimes a hoe.  He grooms his creation the entire growing season.

Irons chooses not to use a GPS device that would guide him more easily through the cutting process. “I use my head and my hands,” he said.
