The Thinker’s Thoughts

This question was sparked from a recent conversation with some friends about the TTM blog…

Is society in a whole ready and/or capable of embracing a revelation that would have them question everything that they currently believe in?

I doubt it, society as a whole would have to stop viewing the media, as their sole resevoir of information, ideas, and inspiration.

I think so. Humans are extremely adaptable. After the initial shock and awe people usually fall in line and find ways to understand the world around them. Humans (as a whole) have been through so many changes – both good and bad – throughout our existence that I think this question has been answered time and time again.

No. Society as I see it, is in a serious case of DENIAL in this season. Most people seem as though they are running from the truth, and the bad part is the “truth” may be the answer and their way OUT…as well as it being helpful to some these individuals.

Though are only but a few who will receive this “relevation”, others out of pride, (I’ve witnessed) will RUN, HIDE, and won’t receive and rather GO the LONGGGGG way instead of a ” RIGHT” way that can be helpful, uplifting, encouraging and life changing for them.

People want change I believe, but are in no way willing to work towards it in this season.

I think the majority of our population doesn’t question anything, period.

well when would anyone, even the most sound individual let alone a confederacy of dunces, be READY for that? there may be times that would seem better than others but still there will never be a time when you are READY to have the foundation you’ve built your life upon collapse entirely…in regards to society’s capability, idk how much emphasis i’d put on whether or not anyones capable of dealing with that because a revelation like that is just the kind of thing you HAVE to deal with as in there is no other choice, capable or not truth, or rather doubt, would be staring them in the face. theres no way to avoid that so being incapable isnt really an option…i think

A revelation that would force them to question everything? Are you kidding? Absolutely not.

They say the truth hurts for a reason. And they say ignorance is bliss for the same reason. Nobody likes having their beliefs challenged, because it forces people out of their comfort zone, and people like to be comfortable. Revelations are life-changing, and people only like change if they see it benefitting them in some way. So, best believe, if the revelation, or truth, is ugly, most people are likely to reject it.

If people are forced to deal with a truth they don’t want to accept, they will revolt.

Why do you ask? You know somethin’ we don’t know? :P

No. Society has been trained to follow without question. Embracing a “revelation” would require abandonment of the security they have learned to love.
