just when you thought it was safe!!!

September 23rd, 2009

This is what happens when creativity refuses to be limited by the definition of others.  I can understand why most mediocre mindsets would think that I’m bias when it comes to Kanye due to our friendship.  That might be partial true being that I’ve known him for close to 25 years now…but anyone who thinks that’s where my thought process ends clearly doesn’t have any idea of the magnitude of my intellect.

My intellect refuses to be bound, to be limited or diminished for any reason…for it is infinite and must question everything regardless of the source.  It would be going against my fundamental self to not recognize and applaud any individual who is not only SUPER TALENTED in their craft, but also FEARLESS in presenting it to the world!  Unfortunately that combination doesn’t come along too often.  I often wonder what would the world be like if there were more super talented fearless individuals?

One positive that came from the so-called “stolen VMA moment” scandal is how it revealed genuine feelings which allowed us to know exactly where we stand with people.  So many people were just absolutely reckless with their dumb founded accusations that I was just left in utter amazement of the depth of the dumbness.

My favorite came in form of an e-mail that stated, “That was probably the most racist thing I ever witness in my 61 years on this earth.” Oh really…the MOST racist thing in your 61 years?! I’m quite sure that this is the same person who goes to town-hall meetings and shouts…”keep the government out of my medicare!”

We must become better in the way that we express our discontent with one another.  I agree with fellow thinker Gandhi that a HEALTHY discontent is the prelude to progress. No one is or should ever be above receiving constructive criticism…but be mindful not to wonder into the realm of overkill.  That’s when the constructive turns destructive and the lesson is lost. Sadly destructive behaviors are very easy to invoke mainly because they don’t require any accountability…which the media does to perfection!

I leave you with a previously posted quote by fellow thinker Albert Einstein to ponder…Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.

As always…dare2bU!!!

    Powerful powerful words,

Thanks again for the inspiration. I wouldn’t call you and Kanye my role models, however I do follow many of your beliefs and insight about how life should and can be lived.

Although I’ve spent 16+ years in our educational system, I feel as though my creativity has been stifled by the formulaic life paths of those that have come before me.

Nonetheless, I have an intense desire to share my thoughts with the world and go against the grain to leave my mark on people and leave a legacy.

As I’ve mentioned on your site before, my site entitled Wine & Bowties, is my message to the world. It’s how I express myself, how I learn, how I share and how I grow.

I thank you and I thank Kanye for your relentless desire to be creative and think for yourselves. If you do not hear it ever again from anyone else, know that your work has inspired me.

    Thank you.
