from my life to yours

TheThinkMovement.com by j. sakiya sandifer

I want to share a snippet of a recent conversation with one of my close colleagues about how to get what we want out of life…

“So Rickey, how much should someone  expect to get paid if they were a part of building a company from the ground up and now it’s worth $300 million?

Sakiya that’s simply, however much they negotiated on the front end!”

When it comes to doing business, your first rule should always be “if it wasn’t written, it wasn’t said”, because if and when a business deal goes bad, the negotiations will always start with the intitial written word.

I know that’s sounds really simple, but sooo many people fail to understand the importance of applying this simple business principle…don’t be one of them!!!

A big part of NOT achieving success is due to people not willing to sacrifice. I’ve yet to meet or study a mega successful person who hasn’t had to make daily sacrifices in order to make it happen.

I personally find it really offensive when people are quick to tell me what they want, but then aren’t willing to sacrifice in order to make it happen because it conflicts with their social life…uhgg I mean seriously!!!

Regardless of how big or small the goal, in order to increase the probability of success, the universe requires a 100% focus and dedication to it.

And not trying to sound too harsh, but understand that 100% focus and dedication WILL NOT and CANNOT be achieved by the weak minded.

Even if by some fluke of nature a weak minded person hits it big, the chances of them being able to sustain the moment is about as likely as Disney going into the cartoon porn business. Yeah it could happen, but what are the chances?

Trust me when I tell you that the universe has a funny way of tempting you with conflicting wants in every stage of your journey and no matter how you look at it, in order to come up, there’s going to be something that you’ll have to be willing to give up!

a recent random, yet on point thought to ponder from a fellow thinker

a fellow thinker’s thoughts

what if i did a free concert with some of my friends in the same vein as Woodstock some where random in the united states, would you spread the word and swing thru? ive been thinkin about using the power of u guys (my fans) to help me out with something epic and that would be pretty awesome. however i have to keep remindin myself its not 1969 and i would more than likely run into some issues.

thoughts?

do you think it would work? id probably have the majority of the acts be unsigned or signed indie bands/groups/artists to help bring back authenticity into the mainstream. (ALSO ELIMINATING EGOS, excluding Kanye because hes awesome and my brother and its my festival and i can do what i want and yall would wanna see him rock shit anyway so STEP OFF!  lol)

the purpose of me wanting to do this is because shit is weak and we need to remind people that whats on the radio or on itunes top list doesnt always determine what this generation is THINKING. music in the past decade has mostly been one big circus of fuckery.  i want to remind people of the reality of our youth, everything has been so peachy and glamorous looking to cover up how we all really feel. people call my music emo or depressing but those are people wearing masks afraid to align there minds with their souls.  that’s how all music was at some point, honest and raw. my music is the stuff most of you think about but wont say cause you dont like to talk about how you feel to people or your just a thinker like myself.  if someone thinks my music is a downer, then they didnt listen, and are avoiding self exploration (as my homie Sakiya has said).  of course im gonna sound suicidal when damn near everything else sounds like cheese balls.  guess what mainstream america, not a lot of kids are happy with life, they arnt rich and dont know what they wanna do with themselves.  music needs to cover all angles and rite now theres nothing happening.  we all have a big sheet being thrown over our eyes to distract us from whats really goin on in our minds and the world.  im bringin back raw, unedited, honest and uncomfortable thoughts of the youth.

TheThinkMovement.com by j. sakiya sandifer

i think because musicians get paid large sums of money for mediocrity, it distract us from using the power of music to connect with people. the more money you start to get for making shit you barely worked hard to make, the less you start to care about authenticity and using music to help people.  these are just my views, im some what of a hippie (officially comfirmed by the big homie Jay Stern) but understand, im trying to understand my purpose in life everyday like many other kids and im pretty damn for certain God gave me this talent to say some shit worth saying, like many others hes blessed with the gift of song.

well, i wasnt plannin on writing that much ha

peace and love and lemme know what you guys think about the festival

heres a quote from Max Yasgur, the the cool as hell dairy farmer who allowed Woodstock to take place on his property

I hear you are considering changing the zoning law to prevent the festival. I hear you don’t like the look of the kids who are working at the site. I hear you don’t like their lifestyle. I hear you don’t like they are against the war and that they say so very loudly. . . I don’t particularly like the looks of some of those kids either. I don’t particularly like their lifestyle, especially the drugs and free love. And I don’t like what some of them are saying about our government. However, if I know my American history, tens of thousands of Americans in uniform gave their lives in war after war just so those kids would have the freedom to do exactly what they are doing. That’s what this Country is all about and I am not going to let you throw them out of our Town just because you don’t like their dress or their hair or the way they live or what they believe. This is America and they are going to have their festival.

the future!!!

I recently had the opportunity to do a book discussion with a small group of 7th graders at the MS/PS 27 Agnes Humphrey School in Brooklyn, New York.

I must admit that I was quite impressed with some of their answers and found this to be a great example of how you will often find only what you seek.

Although there were many, one of the stand out moments for me was when a student named Junisha express how she wanted to be a photographer.  Since I’m all about seizing the moment, I put her on the spot and challenged her to take pictures during the discussion.  Although she was kind of hesitant at first, she not only accepted the challenge, but exceeded expectations in my opinion.

She took all the following pictures minus the group shot… (more…)

a thought to ponder…

TheThinkMovement.com by j. sakiya sandifer

If you haven’t heard of the current green movement, then you must be from a galaxy far far away.

With countless politicians including it in their campaign platforms, numerous corporations making it an essential part of their marketing agendas, and various grass roots organizations constantly spouting about it, not being aware of it would be like not noticing the sun at high noon on a clear day while relaxing on the beach.

With all the information on the subject being abundantly available, I find it very interesting that when asking people what they know about it, most often they respond with general answers like…it’s about saving the earth from global warming, it’s about saving the whales, it means shopping at Whole Foods.

I’ve even had some people tell me that they don’t believe in going green at all because it’s just another marketing ploy attempting to guilt consumers into buying the new packaged version of an old product.

Though all those things might have some variables of truth to them, one cannot deny that thinking green will in the long term save you some long green money that is the thing that makes the world go around. (more…)
