I am the most uncomfortable being myself when speaking in public.
My field of work is in Education, which means that I have to be professional at all times. I feel uncomfortable because I believe I have to “put on a face”. In my personal life, I am an extremely outspoken/silly person. In my career life, especially in public speaking, I have to come across as being confident and “professional”. I do realize that my lack of confidence in public speaking leads to the discomfort I feel, but I also believe that because I am not myself in a group setting, my level of discomfort is challenged that much more.

When I’m around people who have become comfortable not being themselves, and expect everyone else to do so

I find myself to be most uncomfortable with myself, when i am placed in a position in which there is a social norm… I feel as if i have to put an act to fit in with these people or setting. But I have come to realize that no matter what the person or setting. I will always be myself because I feel the most comfortable when i do so.

when I feel that the person with whom I am interacting is not being himself/herself.
becuase that person doesn’t deserve to see the true me either. or at least I would be uncofortable with that.

I am the most uncomfortable when trying to be me, when I meet strangers and they look at me and think I must be a snob. So it is unnerving trying to prove that I am not judgmental or a snob, even though I look sophisticated and speak educated. I sometimes feel uncomfortable when going back to my hood because they don’t realize that is where I am from. I also feel uncomfortable around snobby people because they seem to take meekness for weakness and I have to let the hood impose my strength and swagger.
