Brightons iconic West Pier was restored to its former glory for one night only – “A Pier Appears” took place on Wednesday, February10, 2010, and was the first of a series of events curated by Josef Valentino on behalf of Tiger Beer as part of their Chinese New Year Celebrations. French lighting studio Creatmosphere used computer-controlled lasers for the project, which stopped traffic and drew a huge crowd on the beach, despite the brief arctic blizzard!
I have recently turned 20 years of age, and just completed curating a nationwide campaign for Tiger Beer in the UK in response to the Chinese New Year of The Tiger. I have been an avid follower of Sakiyas blog for the past year and often find myself staying awake till the morning inspiring my mind with his thoughts and insights into the world around us. I don’t feel that I would have been able to undertake such an big project without the positivity that I received from following this blog and feel as though it has played a big impact in myself as an artist and the work that I do.
The below link shows footage of the event (1 of 5) that I organized in response to the 5 elements of the zodiac. Although this is inevitably a marketing/advertising exercise, I feel that we managed to achieve something far more genuine and believable that brought people together without directly knowing it was linked to a corporate brand.
