Large scale painter, Ron English took his presidential image of Barack Obama and intermixed it with Abe Lincoln. The oversized, newly colorized outdoor versions were installed as part of Gallery XIV’s ‘a politic exhibit held in Boston.

Now my question is…what does this artistic expression evoke in you???

My deep thought, indepth; They had the same mindset, goal, determination, zeal, and encourage thoughts yet they are/were from different centuries…that’s a very deep thought, that’s going wayyyyy far, as my mind is racing, but that’s how I see it :) The painting itself (thought behind it) is clever.

I’m curious to know why he chose Abe Lincoln. OBama, the Obama’s have been describe as the modern day Kennedy’s, so I wonder why he chose Lincoln, I don’t see the connection…

it seems like a mediocre attempt at a Warhol…not really all that innovative…I’m curious to know why he chose Abe Lincoln myself though…hmmm?

It seems to be just Lincoln, with a hint of Obama…the colors don’t help. I think it would of been more effective to use Obama’s natural skin-tone..that would of helped…at least me anyway. Yea, Why Lincoln?

    Strange.

Maybe this painter is implying that Obama will be a revolutionary president in a way that no president has really been since Abe Lincoln, especially when it comes to matters of equality. Lincoln freed the slaves, as the story goes…perhaps Obama will free the American people. I dunno.

I like the colors, though. :/

After writing a 15 page paper on Obama for one of my courses I know that Obama’s favorite president is Lincoln, so there is one obvious connection. :) I’m sure there may be more underlying connections as well.

There have been some rumors for years that President Lincoln has some Black ancestry. Which would have made him the first Black President.

i think this quote ties them together for me…

“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.”
