It took me a minute to notice that it was actually displaying the time until I peeped the shadow being made on the billboard. This is the first time I can truly say "I'm lovin it" when referring to McDonalds. LOL. What a clever way to present a breakfast menu. This is the kind of science I like. That DNA maipulation stuff you posted about the other day...I can't get with that. Anyway, from this picture, I can tell the photograph was taken looking North based on the angle of the shadow. The angle lets you know the position of the sun in the sky (if you pretend that the shadow extends as a line into the sky, following that line will lead you in the direction of the sun, right?). And if you know that the sun rises in the East, and sets in the West, then based on the angle of the shadow you could pretty much estimate what time of day it might be, which is what they've done here.
